Signs your Golden Heart Entry is Ready

  1. You decide you need to revise the opening paragraph. Again. You send the new opening to your critique partner, and she tells you--in the nicest possible way--"STOP playing with it!" And she's totally right.
  2. You realize you've deleted and inserted the same comma 7 times.
  3. Your thoughts turn to binder clips, CDs, and colorful jewel cases.
  4. The mere sight of the FedEx logo on a truck, sign, or package gives you heart palpitations.
  5. The calendar says it's time.

The deadline for receipt of entries at the RWA office is Wednesday, December 2 at 5:00 p.m. Central Time.

Good luck to everyone who's entering, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Anne,

Fun post!

Another sign that it's time to send that entry off: Your tremendously supportive hubby would like to spend time with you talking about something other than your chapter ending hooks, the merit of one word versus another in your transition to the second scene in chapter three, and whether or not you should reprint the ninth page of the entry because there's a tiny mark from the photocopy process.

Ha! That's a good one. :) Oh, if only my biggest problem were a photocopy mark . . . Thanks for the laugh, Keli!

Hi Anne,

You just described my whole last week! LOL. Last Monday, I printed off my final version, took it to work for one more quick look and changed almost every page! YIKES.

So I took it back home, revised it one more time and didn't look at it again. Cause I know I would've changed something!

Then I had to do another once over on the whole ms. My hand was crippled from the mouse! Hubby helped me get it on a CD. Finally got it boxed and sent on Saturday. Fingers crossed it gets there in time.

What a process! Exhausting.

If Keli has entered though, I don't think I stand a chance.

Good luck everyone!

Sue

Sue, CONGRATS on getting that sucker in the mail! I hope it helps to know you're not the only one obsessing. :)

Best of luck to you. I happen to know you're a VERY talented writer--and a Pixie to boot!
